The Nurse Manager is responsible for implementing strategies and activities designed to achieve and support uncompromising quality, exceptional patient safety, and an outstanding patient/resident/family experience. This role fosters staff development, staff empowerment, collegial relationships, and best practices in nursing care. The Nurse Manager allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, compassionate, and fiscally responsible nursing care. This role also ensures the coordination of care across department lines through systems that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and communication. The Nurse Manager participates in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel and ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and ongoing professional development for those accountable to them.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Management:

- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
- Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and professional development.

Population-Specific Care:
- Provide care appropriate to the age of patients/residents served.
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to assess data reflective of patient status.
- Interpret appropriate information to identify age-specific patient/resident needs.
Exposure Control:
- Manage tasks with potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissue.
- Anticipate occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Education: Graduation from an accredited Registered Professional Nurse Program.
- License: Current NYS License to practice as a Professional Registered Nurse.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing or long-term care (LTC) experience.
- Skills and Certifications: Interpersonal skills, management systems knowledge, analytical skills, basic management competencies, project management skills, ability to work under pressure, familiarity with DOH requirements, computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint).
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field, or a Master's in Nursing or related field.
- Experience: Previous management/leadership experience.
- Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech.
