As a Senior Radiological Engineer at Nusano, you will be a key contributor to our particle accelerator project and various related initiatives. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and researchers to ensure the successful design, operation, and maintenance of our novel accelerator system. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including project leadership responsibilities, and to contribute to the development of groundbreaking medical isotope technologies.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
- Shielding Analysis and Computations: Perform shielding analysis using tools such as MCNP, Attila, and PHITS to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and the environment in and around the accelerator facility.
- Activation Analysis: Conduct activation analysis for isotope production and waste management, assessing the activation products generated by accelerator operation, chemical processing, and other activities.
- Product Development: Contribute to the development of medical isotopes, and collaborate with the radiochemistry team to optimize production processes.
- Radiological Monitoring Systems: Provide input to design, implement, and maintain radiological monitoring systems to continuously assess radiation levels and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Shielding Concrete Analysis and Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate shielding concrete materials, thicknesses, and configurations for the accelerator facility or reactor facility to achieve optimal radiation protection.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage projects as required, including coordinating project teams, setting objectives, and ensuring timely delivery of milestones and outcomes.
- Research and Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in nuclear engineering, particle accelerators, and medical isotope production technologies, and apply this knowledge to enhance our projects.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear engineering, with a focus on particle accelerators, radiation protection, or reactor facilities.
- Proficiency in using MCNP, Attila, PHITS, and other relevant software tools for shielding and activation analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of radiological safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional team.
- A strong commitment to safety and ethical conduct.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with isotope production via particle irradiation.
- Familiarity with accelerator or reactor design and operation.
- Research publications and contributions to the field of nuclear engineering.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working in a facility that produces radiation.
- Must be able to sit for long periods.
- Frequent use of a computer with repetitive use of a keyboard, mouse, and manual dexterity.
