What you will do:
- Prepare engineering scopes of work and cost estimates in response to engineering requests submitted by other departments
- Recommend problem solving may include technical and economic evaluations, schedules and detail cost estimates, system and component specifications, engineering sketches and drawings, and safety and environmental impacts and recommendations
- Manage capital projects with responsibilities including: detail design or supervision of contract engineering services, cost control and reporting construction management including plans, organizes, and controls contractor resources, schedules and management status reports, prepare purchase requisitions and bid analysis, and manages startup and training
- Function as a technical advisor and/or a team member to WSA Operations and Maintenance Employee Involvement Teams
- Insure all projects under supervision complies with all environmental and safety rules and regulations
- Perform field quality inspections of project construction and plant equipment which requires the ability to climb ladders, stairs, or inclines; walk on irregular surfaces; and lift moderately heavy parts and equipment
- Develop project management and problem-solving skills under the tutelage of senior project engineers
- Lead / participate in RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) on a periodic basis
- Be fully involved in WS safety program: including JHA, KPAs EBS, Management walk throughs, etc.
What you will bring:
- A general understanding of electrical engineering principles and a minimum of five to seven years in the chemical industry as a project engineer, engineering designer and/or maintenance engineer
- Minimum educational requirement is a B.S. Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Must be knowledgeable of plant safety and environmental policies and procedures and regulatory compliance criteria
- Ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida is desired
- Ability to utilize personal computers and other computer aids is essential
- Must become familiar with quality improvement, "teaming", empowerment, and statistical techniques and skills
- Attend seminars, meetings, and continuing education in the field of expertise are required to maintain an up-to-date working knowledge
- A detailed knowledge of project engineering and a general knowledge of fertilizer processes is preferred
