Description
Policy: NRI shall identify necessary competencies for employees whose activities impact food safety.
Purpose: To provide the basic requirements for the position of Distribution Center Order Verifier position at NRI.
Scope: Applies to the verification of assembled orders prior to shipment at the NRI Distribution Center.
Responsibilities:
- Verify the cased orders as the final accuracy check prior to shipment of finished packaged products for order fulfilment.
- Conducts visual inspection of finished product prior to packaging.
- Advise leads and management of issues with product case ID, legibility, perceived weight, and seal discrepancies.
- Remove non-standard products, such as light weights and irregular products, to appropriate rework and waste bins.
- Checks/verifies correct code date on products as referenced in supporting paperwork.
- Perform verifying activity without causing damage to packages, cartons, or item arrangement/fit in case.
- Assists with the training of new picking, order fulfilment employees.
- Follows NRI Rules and Regulations as described in the Employee Handbook.
- Notifies Distribution Center Manager of any suspicious personnel or incidents occurring that relate to plant security.
- Fill out all paperwork as required.
- Mark and label cases, using marking tools.
- Performs quality checks as outlined in the Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain the work area, warehouse aisles, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Maintain level of sanitation and GMP’s appropriate to a finished product operation.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to include light cleaning, dry waste removal, use of general cleaners on work surfaces.
- Completes tasks and projects as required by NRI.
- Must work overtime as needed.
- Assists with packaging on other lines as required.
- Capable of verifying specified amount of cases set by Distribution Center Manager during a shift.
Food Safety in Production Areas
- Notifies Distribution Center Manager of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
- Observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded (allergen and waste) container policy in the production areas.
- Perform all duties necessary to meet NRI, customers and/or government requirements and standards.
- Inform Distribution Center Manager of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues or processes, which become noncompliant with specified requirements.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the products.
- Control the continued processing or delivery of nonconforming until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- In the absence of immediate supervisor, assume necessary operational and administrative duties.
- In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level, assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
Organizational Relationships
- This position reports to the Distribution Center Manager.
- Internal communications with – DC Packers, Lead Packer, Inventory Manager, DC Pickers.
- There is typically more than one verifier working, so in the event of absence, workload assignments shall be adjusted by the DC Manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Competency in English
- Must have basic math skills.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time.

The employee must be able to work in close proximity to warehouse equipment and conveyors.
Work Environment.
This is an indoor Distribution Center that may have hot, cold, humid and/or dusty conditions. The ambient noise level does not currently require the use of ear plugs. Facility regularly processes packaged known food allergens.
