Description
Policy: NRI shall identify necessary competencies for employees whose activities impact food safety.
Purpose: To outline duties of the Training Coordinator position for NRI.
Scope: The Training Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing training strategy to assist with on-going employee development. Sets performance metrics, evaluates productivity, and helps associates create long-term career plans within NRI.

Responsibilities:
- Document and implement an employee training program.
- Outline the necessary competencies for specific duties and carry out tasks associated with Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF Food safety and Food Quality Plans. Outline should also include tasks identified as critical to the SQF System.
- Make available instructions explaining how all tasks critical to meeting customer specifications, regulatory compliance, the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency are to be performed.
- HACCP training shall be provided for staff involved in developing and maintaining food safety plans and food quality plans. Training materials and the delivery of training shall be provided in language understood by staff.
- A training skills register describing who has training of relevant skills shall be maintained.
- Conduct research into best practices and benchmarks to keep NRI appropriately forward facing.
- Provide feedback/guidance/support to staff to help maximize impact of training.
- Assess the training process for effectiveness and make recommendations for and implement improvements.
- Develop and execute organizational wide plant training strategy to build hourly and salaried employee capabilities.
- Consult on role performance strategies and provide recommendations for performance support tools and processes to supplement training.
- Manage, coach, motivate and provide direction to the management team involved in training.
- Maintain database of employee training records.
Food Safety Responsibilities
- Member of the Food Defense Team with responsibilities described in NRI 12.8.1 Food Defense Plan.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of training experience, preferably in manufacturing organization with experience in designing, planning and implementing training programs.
Organizational Relationships
- This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
- The Training Coordinator routinely interacts with all departments relative to training and evaluation needs.
- This position is not covered in the event of absence.
- This position does not cover other positions in the event of absences, unless directed to do so by the Chief Operating Officer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands, handle or feel objects.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- This is an indoor food processing environment that may have wet floors, humid and/or dusty conditions. The ambient noise level does not currently require the use of ear plugs, although these are available. Facility regularly processes known food allergens.
Qualifications
Salary : $4,200 - $4,500
