Overview
NV5 is actively recruiting a Senior GIS Analyst who possesses sound expertise in geospatial technologies and analytic methodologies. The position is on-site at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC). The analyst must have exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The analyst must work well in a team environment and be self-motivated.
The Senior GIS Analyst will be responsible for improving the accuracy and reliability of the existing engineering-related GIS data. The Senior GIS Analyst will be responsible for digitizing paper records such as floor plans, as-built drawings, and utility location information, and ingesting the data into the existing GIS system. The Senior GIS Analyst will be responsible for using ANC GPS equipment to collect GPS readings from locations around the cemetery and utilize the readings to augment the data in the GIS. The GPS data collection must be done outdoors on varying terrain and in various weather conditions. The Senior GIS Analyst will work with ANC’s Engineering team to identify missing or incomplete feature attributes and reference paper and digital information to correct and complete the existing GIS data.

- Location: Must be within reasonable commuting distance of Arlington National Cemetary
- Schedule: Hybrid work schedule; 3 days onsite/2 days remote
- Travel: Travel required; 25-50% of time

Responsibilities
- GIS Data Quality Control and Assurance to various governmental data standards (FGDC, SDSFIE, etc.)
- Compiles thematic data and records into reports
- Enters delineated map and descriptive information into the GIS through digitizing, key entry or other standard data entry procedures
- Use GPS equipment to facilitate data collection and post processing of data
- Investigates and verifies geographic and land use data by making physical inspections and/or surveys of real property assets
- Import GIS and CADD data and developing, analyzing, manipulating, extracting and importing of data to meet ANC requirements
- Prepares models, diagrams and technical documentation for GIS applications, GIS database metadata and operating procedures
- Digitizes data and/or utilizes GIS/GPS processes to develop spatial data as required for GIS project
- Utilizes GIS/GPS technology to develop and produce maps, data, and reports
- Assist development of quality assurance and preforms quality control to ensure a high degree of data consistency, integrity, and accuracy
- Install, administer and maintain enterprise geospatial systems
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in physical or natural science, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
- Five years of experience using GIS and CADD data
- Experience developing and maintaining GIS data to a data schema specification, such as the Spatial Data Standard for Installations & the Environment (SDSFIE)
- Experience with GPS equipment
- QA/QC experience
- CompTIA Security certification required within 6 months of start date and maintain certificate yearly
- U.S. Citizenship required to comply with government contract
- Ability to obtain Secret security clearance
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions for multiple hours
Experience Preferred (in addition to requirements):
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Geography, GIS or related field
- 2 years or more of GIS experience with Army IGI&S
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- Must have a sound technical understanding of key technologies (GIS, CAD) and enterprise systems
- Familiarity with Army real property and space management a plus
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise
