Responsibilities
NV5 is seeking an energetic and proactive full-time Structural Engineer for our New York, NY office. This individual will provide engineering design assistance for projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable), box culvert, walls, and bulkheads. The ideal candidate will have some experience with Civil3D and/or MicroStation. The most frequent and essential work activities include:
- Apply structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of bridge designs
- Work on projects that typically include the bridge (steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable), box culvert, walls, and bulkheads
- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures and develop structural details using specialized software
- Participate in bridge inspection, perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development
- Responsible for designing structural components, report writing, development of plans, specifications and estimates, quality control and assurance activities.
- Quickly learn and apply technical mathematical concepts and engineering design skills, helping others learn them as well.
- Perform other duties as needed
Additionally the following experience are not required but would be considered a plus:
- Building Design
- Experience with Revit

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- EIT
- 2-5 Years Experience
- Strong Understanding with engineering software packages such as STAAD, MathCAD
- Familiarity with any of these additional software packages considered a plus OpenBridge Designer, ProjectWise, LRFD Simon, LEAP Bridge Concrete, Revit
- Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Microstation
- Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment
- Independently and accurately completing engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel structures.
- Familiarity with timber and masonry design a plus.
- Familiarity with building design a plus
- Experience developing bridge plans (coordinating markups with CADD technicians), assembling/ writing specifications, and developing quantities and cost estimate
The pay range for this position in New York City is $65,000.00- $75,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
