We are adding a Sunday Hospital Assitant to our team! Experience working in a veterinary practice is appreciated but is not required. This is a one, day/week position and will assit our on-call veterinarians in the hospital on Sundays. Our team is willing to train the right person if they are confident with handling horses and they bring a positive, self-starter approach to their work.

In our premier full-service hospital, we are well equipped to see a diverse caseload of preventative care, surgical cases, lameness, and emergency cases. VETERINARY'S HOSPITAL ASSISTANT - EQUINE
Hospital Assistants are responsible for assisting the on-call veterinarians over the weekend and ensuring that their patients recieve treatments in a timelye manner.
Horse experience is a requirement, experience in the veterinary medicine field is preferred. Training is available for candidates that can communicate effectively, work in a team environment, and have a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Daily Organizing: Coordinating with the on-call DVM to provide patient care, keeping the clinic organized, cleaning the clinic and exam space and stocking the pharmacy and entering medical records.
- Patient Care: Perform physical exams, administer medications and therapies under the guidance of the DVM on the case.
- Handling and Caring for Horses: twitching, jogging, lunging, bandaging, scrubbing for injections, administering vaccines and medications. Feeding and cleaning stalls on an as needed basis.
- Radiography & Ultrasonography: Equipment setup, taking radio graphs and assisting the DVM team with imaging.
- Blood and Laboratory Work: Pulling blood samples and running blood tests. Preparing blood samples to be shipped to external diagnostic labs
- Miscellaneous: Basic administrative tasks such as recording dispensed medications, running various clinic errands.
- Other duties as assigned may include assisting in other roles as needed.
Qualifications and desired skills:
- Horse Experience.
- Able to follow directions, take initiative, and remain calm under pressure.
- Superb time management and attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Client confidentiality and customer service skills.
- Solid education & foundation in horsemanship and equine anatomy.
- Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record.
