BUSINESS SEGMENT OVERVIEW: ELECTRICAL & FASTENING SOULUTIONS (EFS): Designers and installers of electrical systems rely on nVent for industry-proven, globally compliant fastening and facility electrical protection systems. nVent’s electrical and fastening solutions are comprised of superior engineered products for niche electrical, mechanical and concrete applications. nVent LENTON offers components for concrete reinforcing steel connections. The nVent CADDY brand includes fixing, fastening and support products for electrical installation, seismic and fire protection, data communications and heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. We also offer nVent ERIFLEX low-voltage, space-saving power and grounding connections for electrical panels and nVent ERICO offers components for electrical protection, rail and transit connectivity, telecom installation, and utility and industrial facility electrical installation systems. Behind the scenes: nVent ERICO has roots that trace back to 1903, when the Electric Railway Improvement Company was founded to supply power bonds, signal bonds and related welding equipment to railroads, mining and street railway industries. WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSTION: The primary objective of this position is engineering support of the LENTON brand product lines to internal and external customers globally. External support includes technical and applications support to the Commercial team (Sales, Customer Care, Product Management and Marketing) and customers (specifying engineers, designers, channel-partners, installers, contractors and end-users). Internal support for the CADDY brands includes engineering and technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, Supply and Regulatory Compliance. The position entails significant contact with customers and employees across multiple functions within the nVent EFS business unit. KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide technical support to Sales, Product Management, Customer Care, Marketing, manufacturing, quality, supply, and regulatory compliance. Serve as a subject matter expert for LENTON products, including their application, for nVent functions including Sales, Product Management, Operations, etc. Assist customers in the proper selection and application of LENTON products. Execute product development projects from design to launch for product enhancements, cost reduction, product consolidation and new product development. Support operation in disposition of non-conformances and support product testing as needed. Participation in the development of software tools and web-based utilities for product selection and configuration. Design and carryout destructive and non-destructive test programs (including FMEA) to prove product performance under unique circumstances. Expand/develop/test rebar connections that utilize a variety of mediums, examples: mechanical threads, swaged, grouted, CADWELD, friction weld, arc weld. Participate in design/redesign of field equipment for threading/friction welding/swaging/tensile testing rebar ends Review training literature for technical accuracy including installation guides and procedures, operations manuals, online learning management systems (LMS). Represent nVent in industry codes and standards committees. Provide market specific intelligence and feedback on products and services to the commercial teams. Assist commercial teams with voice of customer (VOC) visits and training visits. Combination of office and lab work (lab work ranges from 25%-50% of total time). Hybrid Work Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days from home Travel: 5% of time YOU HAVE: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree from an ABET accredited program. Structural Engineering or experience in reinforced concrete a plus. Ideally 1 years’ experience in an engineering position within the manufacturing or commercial construction industry.
