What are the responsibilities and job description for the HPT trainer position at NYC Careers?
Under the direction of the Administrative Training Manager, the Technical Trainer (Heating) facilitates a variety of courses, including but not limited to classes concentrating on NYCHA standards and procedures specific to heating operations and the successful management and maintenance of boilers, burners, steam distribution, fire safety and hydronic equipment. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
The candidate must have robust knowledge of, and mechanical skills related to maintaining heating systems, heating inspection, equipment cleaning and replacement, as well as and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; with the ability to identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components and successfully instruct others on such work.
Specific duties shall include but not be limited to the following:
1. Conduct lectures, demonstrations and specific hands-on-exercises related to NYCHA heating systems and operations.
2. Provide technical end user support on matters related to successful heating operations.
3. Assist with the creation and design of mockups for training purposes.
4. Assist in designing, writing, producing, and revising training manuals and other related training materials.
5. Conduct needs analyses for training proposes, creating and distributing surveys and/or conducting focus groups.
6. Take part in special projects as necessary.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

NOTE: The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) administered a civil service exam for the Resident Building Superintendent title December 14, 2021. Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, plus five years of supervisory experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings, three years of which must have been in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees. Higher education may be substituted for up to two years of this experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for each year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least three years of experience in responsible charge of properties having not less than seven maintenance and operations employees.
