What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Specialist position at NYCM?
The Product Specialist in Product Management is responsible for the development of new product and rate initiatives as well as revisions to current product components. The Product Specialist will make product recommendations and decisions that heavily impact growth and profitability, conduct advanced analysis using strong business acumen to provide the greatest level of product insight on competitive alignment and overall strategic positioning of the product. The Product Specialist will influence spreads across divisional partners through opportunity analysis to help formulate operational changes to capitalize on findings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide advice to division management to support the development, maintenance, and goals of product lines.
- Provide guidance and advice to divisional partners on enhancement opportunities.
- Advise and guide team members on effective data structure to carry out analyses.
- Mentor and train other analysts within and outside the line of business (LOB).
- Support monitoring of LOB project planner to ensure timeframes are met.
- Serve as primary point of contact for divisions on LOB technical details.
- Coordinate and structure business performance analysis across various divisions.
- Run, modify, customize, and enhance existing database queries against multiple data sources.
- Assist in validating data pulled and advise on ways to ensure accuracy.
- Serve as subject matter expert for multiple facets of the LOB (excluding but not limited to performance, market influence, forecasting, etc.).
- May serve as primary contact with DFS on rate and product filings as well as various vendors.
- Provide well thought-out, effective recommendations that impact top-line and bottom-line results for LOB.
- Execute roll-out of various product/coverage enhancements and changes.
- Build on analysis skills as well as business understanding through internal and external coursework.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Statistics or other similar fields of study.
- 5 years of insurance analysis experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of computer skills and applications including the Microsoft Suite with attention to Excel and data querying tools such as SAS, SQL, Crystal Business Objects, and Actuate as well as other reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of database concepts.
- Excellent business acumen.

Payband 6M Exempt / 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $66,177 - $145,153
