About the Role:
As an accountant, you will be responsible for evaluating profit and cost efficiencies in various areas of the organization, as well as performing the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial analysis, and general accounting. Under the direction of the controller, the accountant manages accounting functionsincluding analysis and projection for projects and departments and development and implementation of systems and proceduresand acts as a liaison between the company, customers, and external accountants to meet information needs and proper documentation maintenance.
Location: Candidates will have the option to be based out of NYSTECs Albany or Rome offices.

About You:
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and business principles.
- Experience with general ledger, budgeting, internal controls, and general accounting tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products.
- Strong knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Ability to retrieve, gather, organize, and analyze data to reach meaningful conclusions.
- Strategic thinking.
- Advanced written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Detail oriented and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to exercises discretion and independent judgment in making significant business decisions.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Federal Accounting experience.
Education and Experience
- A bachelors degree in a professional specialty, such as accounting, finance business administration, or a similar field, and three years of relevant experience; five years is preferred. An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.
