The School of Professional Studies is seeking an indivudual to serve as an Academic Advisor to advise students in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies on academic programs, policies, and procedures and provide career counseling. This individual will interpret University and school policies and recommend exceptions to policy when appropriate and will also serve as an advisor to the DAUS student club.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in student advising and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
2 years relevant experience in student advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
Experience advising students at the college or university level. Experience advising adult undergraduate students and transfer students.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written skills. Ability to advise and provide solutions to problems. Ability to supervise staff. Proficiency using computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and social media platforms.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills. Proficiency and/or familiarity with Peoplesoft software. Knowledge of student development and career development theories.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $58,500.00 to USD $91,300.00.
