Job Summary
The Planner Scheduler is responsible for planning and scheduling all manufacturing activities and assets on the shop floor, including the release of work orders, management of MRP related activities, and scheduling of resource assets utilizing Epicor.
Duties and Responsibilities

Epicor Setup/Maintenance including Shop Floor Calendar, Work Center set-ups, and Resource Unit Updates.

Work closely with truck scheduling to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.

Review job travelers for accuracy as it relates to material usage and production times.

Generate/coordinate work order activities for the shop floor

Review part component shortages; make decisions for appropriate substitutions if available; make changes on parts list to facilitate work order completion on the shop floor.

Maintain customer-specific orders, reorder of depleted stock items, and shortages by working with the production and sales teams; engaging with sales should shortages impact customer delivery requirements.

Manage work order requirements generated by MRP for discrete manufactured parts by reviewing MRP messages, releasing messages in order to create work order headers, and reviewing work order details after work order generation.

Generate jobs on a special request basis so that specific work orders may be generated on a timely basis.

Systematically release using online system all work orders to the shop floor for display/selection at appropriate workstations based on component availability, calculated start dates, and equipment backlogs.

Analysis of work center capacities, staff resources, and material availability on a work order basis is required for efficient and effective management.

Coordinate release of programming/drawings to workstations, as required.

Respond to work order change requests; coordinate work order changes as required for work in process.

Change work order routings to respond to equipment downtime in order to meet customer requirements of delivery, tolerances, quality, etc.

Maintain intimate knowledge of material specifications and machine set-ups for efficiency gains; review production variances.

Create manual work orders for manufacturing requirements, as-needed.

Set-up, create and maintain item records, bills of material, and manufactured routings for discrete manufactured parts as required for manual work orders.

Review Capacity Requirements Planning system results.

Manage work center workloads based on calculated start dates to meet customer requirements; schedule/shift work order equipment assignments as appropriate to balance work load and facilitate customer orders.

Take physical inventory assessment, as required
Skills and Qualifications
-
1 years in Production, Scheduling, Inventory, Shipping or Receiving, required.

Experience with ERP system, required.

Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook.

High school diploma or equivalent, required. College degree, preferred.
-
Intimate understanding and working knowledge of warehouse operations, required.
-
Strong organizational and communication skills; strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Speak conversational English.

OMS Houston supplies parts for trains, construction equipment, forklifts and portable loading docks.
