POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Buyer will be responsible for assisting our Buying team with the strategy, development, and selection of merchandise by supporting with day-to-day operations. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for those looking to launch their career in fashion and gain experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Department in organizing data and samples to help align to the overall department strategy to drive business results
Assist the Buyers and Buying Manager with promotional and administrative support for their categories including set up new SKUs, changes to SKUs, weekly markdowns, price updates, store communication and other tasks as required
Assist in purchase order creation, tracking and open to buy reporting
Assist with all drop plan updates
Track and manage the testing of product barcodes, ensure accuracy and timely approval
Create and maintain weekly/monthly/quarterly sales reports with any analysis required
Assist with line reviews/style outs for management
Update progress and completion results pertaining to the Buying team in the Master Product Cycle Calendar
Ensure accuracy of style information and reports
Support with monitoring the eCommerce process including: content accuracy, out of stock items, analyzing and reacting to business needs, and communicating with e-commerce team with any issues
Other administrative duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in retail; educational background in fashion merchandising or related field an asset
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel (Pivot Table, vlookup, etc)
- Able to manipulate and summarize large sets of data
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- A solid foundation of qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
- Ability to manage high workloads and prioritize effectively
- Number sensitive
- Ability to quickly learn new computer systems and understand and incorporate new system functionality
- Meets deadlines, prioritizes appropriately, copes well with change, and maintains composure under pressure.
