ELIGIBLE FOR A SIGN-ON BONUS
SALARY RANGE: $93,392.00 - $129,916.80
PURPOSE:
Serves as a proxy to the customer who understands and analyzes the product's vision and works with the customer to determine what gets built. The Product Owner (PO)/analyst collaborates with customers, stakeholders and developers facilitating product discussions. The PO/analyst has and communicates a big picture vision, writes user stories, makes decisions, negotiates and prioritizes work as well as creates roadmaps/schedules on the product's release. Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Under general direction, the PO/analyst is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects.
Analysis:
- Advises on alternatives and on the implications of new or revised systems.
- Analyzes project proposals and identifies omissions and errors in requirements.
- Thinks outside the box for solutions and fully understands the overall system vision.
Specification:
- Collaborates with stakeholders and the team to create the product vision, roadmap and release plan.
- Elicits requirements and determines needed outcomes, writes user stories with acceptance criteria, identifies risks, prioritizes user stories, works with the team to solicit solutions to business objectives.
- Specifies minimum viable products with progressive enhancements and present solutions to business problems clearly.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborates heavily with stakeholders and the team in-person and remotely from product vision to implementation.
- Ensures work is prioritized based on customer needs.
- Takes ownership of the product and makes tough decisions when necessary.
- Balances planning ahead with immediate needs of implementation activities and urgent requests.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Serves in other capacities such as on organizational-wide teams, internal process improvement initiatives, and miscellaneous works assignments.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Technical Writing or related fields and 5 to 8 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
- Must have demonstrated excellent written and oral skills and have the ability to communicate problem breakdowns.
- Must have experience developing software/technical projects.
- Experience with agile development methodologies or experience as Product Owner.
- Must have strong ability to analyze user, business, and technical problems from a broad range of perspectives.
- Must be able to serve as the single point of contact for critical customers (internal and external) and maintain strong working relationships.
- Must be able to come up to speed quickly on the business case and leverage that knowledge to anticipate future feature requests.
- Must be able to work in a team environment that is highly collaborative.
- Must be able to provide guidance/vision to team members regarding project needs.
- Knowledge of application development, particularly for web enabled applications is preferred.
- Must understand the software development life cycle.
- Must have the ability to make trade-off decisions between possible and desirable, which requires a good sense of what is technically feasible.
- Must possess good negotiation skills and be comfortable saying no in a manner that is well received.
- Product Owner/Scrum Certification, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification is strongly preferred.
*The candidate's starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate's qualifications to determine salary.
