What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front-end Web (Angular) Developer position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory?
Requisition Id 10069
Overview:
Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security.
The Web Services Group of the Information Technology Services Division in the Business Services Directorate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks to hire a ServiceNow Developer to design, develop, and maintain ORNL scoped applications with service portal front ends. But, since we can’t find any ServiceNow Developers, we’re instead going to find a generic front-end web developer who knows Angular and teach you what you need to know to work in ServiceNow.
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Typical projects to be supported range from simple to highly complex for a large (5000 employee) enterprise environment. It is not uncommon for multiple sites and customers to be supported simultaneously by a single analyst or administrator, so the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and be goal- and deadline-oriented is required. Projects to be supported may include anything in the ServiceNow environment which span all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through production implementation. Generally, these projects are web-based applications built on the ServiceNow platform as a scoped application or in service portal. The primary UI tool in this environment is Angular. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with the platform administration team and following set standards for ServiceNow development.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of two years’ professional computing experience.
- Demonstrated experience in all phases of web development, including requirements gathering and analysis, system design, prototype development, site design, configuration control, testing, software quality assurance, and maintenance.
- Experience building user interfaces with Angular is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Power Apps
- Web development experience
- The successful candidate must be a highly-motivated, self-starter who is comfortable working as part of a team (in any capacity) or as an independent contributor. The candidate must demonstrate a strong customer focus and excellent written and verbal communications skills. A desire to continuously improve technical skills and identify opportunities where development tools meeting ORNL Standards may be used in place of non-standard tools is expected.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs
