This position is located on-site at our facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Overview:
We are seeking an Information Systems/Operations Auditor who will assist in performing internal audits of information technology (IT) functions to: (1) evaluate adequacy of internal controls to deter or detect opportunities for fraud, waste, and abuse; (2) determine reliability and integrity of information; (3) ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, accepted accounting principles, laws, regulations, and contract provisions; (4) evaluate means for safeguarding assets; and (5) ascertain economy and efficiency with which resources are used. This position resides in Internal Audit Services in the Internal Audit Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Ascertains the reliability and operability of IT systems, platforms, and operations in accordance with information systems and internal auditing standards, established Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.-
Promotes information system controls that will generate reports of irregularities to management and deter fraud. Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, effectiveness, efficiency and application of accounting, financial, and other operating controls, as well as promote effective controls at reasonable cost in information systems. Ascertain the extent to which company assets are accounted for and safeguarded from losses of all kinds.

Conducts operational and performance audits to identify causes of uneconomical and inefficient operations and practices; assesses alternatives which might yield desired results to ensure that management goals and objectives are met.

Provides computerized technical and planning assistance to all audit staff members in the effective discharge of their responsibilities.

Conducts all phases of audits, projects, reviews and investigations as required.

Capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with in Accounting, Computer Science, or related field.-
A minimum of 8 years of experience in auditing field, two of which must have been in information systems auditing and two in operational auditing.

Must have demonstrated experience with accounting system data analytics.

Certification or active participation and progress in attaining certification status (CISA, CIA, or CPA) must be demonstrated.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of auditing.

Knowledge of the techniques, tests, and sampling methods involved in conducting audits and the requirements set forth in the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

Knowledge of various computer systems and platforms.

Skill in the use of computers in conducting audit activities.

Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and prepare and present concise oral and written reports.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to interview persons to extract sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency with ACL software.
Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.
