Overview
The Cook position is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the junior and adult cafeteria and other areas of the kitchen at IMG Academy.The Cook is responsible for preparing menu items utilizing cooking equipment in a fast-paced environment. The Cook must adhere to high food quality standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Portion control, food waste and sanitation are additional areas that the Cook must be aware of while operating in the kitchen.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $16 to $20.

Responsibilities
- Prepping ingredients for consumption
- Sets up station according to OVG and IMG Academy guidelines.
- Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the chef.
- Responsible for cleaning, stocking and restocking of workstations and displays.
- Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers and ovens.
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
- Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
- Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
- Assists with the cleaning, sanitation and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
- Is friendly, positive, helpful and team-oriented; show respect for all team members and guests; are willing to learn new skills to help the store, the team and themselves
- Reports to work for all shifts on time; leave and return to work on time from all meals and breaks
- Monitor and record temperature-sensitive food items as outlined
- Comply with established dress and uniform guidelines; following personal grooming, hand washing and hygiene procedures.
- Keep food prep and offstage food areas neat, clean, well organized and visually appealing to guests
- Follow cleaning and sanitation guides to meet all food safety and brand standards
- Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time.
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience as a prep or line cook
- Demonstrated experience with delegating, following up and producing daily prep lists
- Ability to follow order guides and receive orders through daily inventory process
- Ability to thrive in a high volume environment
- Cheerful and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members – demonstrates excellent guest service skills.
- Must successfully pass a nationally recognized Food Safety Manager Certification course and exam
- Must be able to meet any “Food Handlers” license/card training exam
- Ability to multi task in a fast-paced organization
- A superior work ethic
- Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual
- 1 year of progressive work experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to read labels and other product information
- Ability to read instructions, recipes, reports and information on computer screens, and to key information on computer and RF Unit keyboards
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to move merchandise with appropriate equipment (e.g., tubs, carts, flats, etc.) to and from stockroom
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
- Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
