Position: Principal Software Developer

Summary:

This role supports the Federal Aviation Administration, which is responsible for ensuring the safety of 45,000 flights and 3 million passengers traversing over 28 million miles of U.S. controlled airspace every day. In addition to providing air traffic control and safety oversight for civilian aviation, the FAA also works in lockstep with the Department of Defense and other Government agencies to ensure the security of our nation. A key component of that coordination involves the collaborative use of aviation tools and data. This position will support that critical and exciting realm.

Objective Area Solutions (OAS) is seeking an experienced database developer to join our Team in supporting the FAA NAS Defense Program (NDP). This team provides continuous software support (engineering, data analysis, etc.), including the identification and implementation of emerging technologies that could improve the operational effectiveness of the NDP toolset.

This is a hybrid position in the Washington DC Metro Area. Remote candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Position Functions & Skills:

Supporting the company under the direction of the project leadership, the principal database developer will be expected to support our client by leveraging high-value, practical engineering, and analysis support in the following areas:

• Software and Database Engineering and Development
• System and Software Documentation
• Data Analysis
• User Training
• Software Release Management
• Technical and Maintenance Support

Required Education, Skills & Capabilities:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or science fields of study
• 8 years of relevant experience (6 years of relevant experience w/master's degree)
• An active Secret Level security clearance, or has held one recently
• Demonstrated front end development experience (javascript, html5)
• Demonstrated experience with large databases (e.g., Oracle and/or Redis)
• Demonstrated experience working with small teams and as a self-starter
• Excellent verbal and written communications
• Excellent collaboration skills

Preferred Education, Skills & Capabilities:

• Operational aviation experience
• Experience with Geospatial Information System (GIS) Data, ideally OpenLayers 3 experience
