Family Self Sufficiency Specialist
“Together We Can” (TWC)
General Statement of Duties: The Together We Can Program team works intensively with referred individuals to help them achieve family stability, utilizing available resources to meet their personal social, health & economic needs & to help them develop their own capabilities. Provide motivation and guidance seeking alternative solutions to specific problems, such as housing, health needs, employment, transportation, childcare & parenting.
Examples of Duties:
- Meets with participants to assess family needs and barriers to meeting service plan goals.
- Provide motivation, assistance and coordination of activities supporting recovery, employment, and effective parenting
- Appropriately maintains participant files, time and attendance records, and supportive service information to ensure accuracy.
- Assesses performance goals and results;
- Provides regular reports to management team;
- Coordination of social services, adult education services, mental health services, court services, employment services and recovery services.
- Aid participants in obtaining essential documents, including social security cards, birth certificates, and driver’s license
- Coordination of transportation for appointments
- Effective modeling of adult relational, parenting and employment skills and roles.
- Submit Invoices required for financial and programmatic reports.
- Maintains close working relationship with partner program staff to ensure coordination of training goals and supportive services.
- Maintains data as required on client caseload and related program activities for reporting purposes and for monitoring of client participation and expenditure levels
- follow the proper administration of OEI Programs to provide operational, programmatic, financial and contracted compliance with Federal and State regulations and policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of Federal and State Department of Social Services regulations and policies; high level of skill in oral and written communication; ability to independently interpret and apply rules, laws and regulations in a variety of situations; ability to establish and maintain good working relations with agency staff and business officials.
Qualifications: B. S. Degree in Social Work or related field or related work experience
- Must be willing to work outside of regular office to conduct home visits, coordinate services, participate in court and family partnership meetings
- Knowledge of social work principles (for example, respecting individual differences and maximizing client independence) and social work practice (such as interviewing, assessing client needs, setting goals, managing cases, and locating and securing resources) in order to advise clients and to deliver services, under supervision.
- Ability to exchange information orally with clients , co-workers, and staff members of other agencies, in order to explain local department programs, to interview clients, to obtain resources, and to consult with other professionals.
- Ability to make and implement case decisions (for example, after reviewing the alternatives, to identify and select a course of action; to develop a plan based on knowledge of needs and resources; and to follow through on the treatment and intervention plan in a timely manner) in order to ensure the delivery of appropriate services to clients.
- Ability to assess an individual’s and/or family’s strengths and needs in order to plan for the delivery of appropriate services.
- Knowledge of social, economic, and health problems that face individuals, groups, and communities, in order to offer assistance and training to to assess the full range of client needs and to deliver needed services; and to identify gaps in community resources.
- Ability to respond to assigned member’s emotions (such as hostility, anger, and grief) in order to accomplish service objectives.
- Ability to plan and manage, own work activities, including service delivery and record keeping duties, in order to ensure that tasks are accomplished.
- Ability to write in order to prepare reports, correspondence, and narrative descriptions of case activities.
- Ability to interpret laws, policies, and regulations in order to apply, with supervision, policy manuals, agency regulations, and laws related to social services programs.
Drivers license, Drug test and CPS, criminal background, & DMV record checks required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
