What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Oddball?

We are hiring a Controller to work alongside Oddball’s CFO to continue to scale and grow Oddball. The Controller is responsible for all aspects of government contract accounting, and will have the ability to manage projects within a fast-paced Accounting environment. Immediate responsibilities include leading our transition from QuickBooks to Unanet financials. Must have experience in implementation of accounting best practices and compliance with Federal and State and local tax laws, CAS, GAAP, Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) compliance, and internal controls. A deep understanding of government contracts and government invoicing. The Controller will report directly to the CFO.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the transition from QuickBooks to Unanet Financials
- Ensure day to day transactions are recorded and accurate
- Own the GL, Invoicing, Payables, Accruals, Unbilled, Monthly Close and work with the CFO on financial reporting
- Own the AP/AR functions (including invoicing)
- Assist with contract setup and closeouts
- Revenue recognition, Prepaids, Accruals, Unbilled, Payroll entries, and more
- Oversee Reconciliations (bank and balance sheet)
- Develop and maintain a high level understanding of each contract/project to ensure compliance
- Prepare state and local tax filings (property tax, business licenses)
What you’ll bring:
- At least 7 years of financial accounting experience
- Minimum 5 years of government contracting experience
- Unanet ERP required, Implementation experience a plus
- High level communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to work as a team
- Highly proficient in Excel
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically
Education:
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance; MBA/MFA and or CPA a plus
