Accountant IV

Overview

The Accountant IV is responsible for the preparation of external reporting documents including consolidated external financial statements to the SEC (Forms 10-K and 10-Q) and other regulatory and governmental organizations. This individual will also assist the External Reporting department in performing research and analysis on various transactions/topics to ensure the Company’s compliance with US GAAP and SEC guidelines, as well as assist with special projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of consolidated external financial reporting to the SEC (Forms 10-K and 10-Q) including populating the financial statements and footnotes, and updating narrative descriptions as necessary. Coordinate with various parties within the ODP Corporation including Investor Relations, Treasury, Benefits, Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis and with personnel at acquired entities to obtain information required for external reporting. Prepare tie-out of the 10-K and 10-Q documents and provide relevant support for financial statements and footnotes to external and internal auditors. Also assist in the tie-out review of investor communications including quarterly earnings releases and investor presentations.
• Assist in the preparation of reporting required by other regulatory and governmental organizations including reporting for Puerto Rico, Clearfield Insurance (Bermuda), and OfficeMax pension plans on an annual basis. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports required by the U.S. Census Bureau.
• Assist in purchase price allocations related to new acquisitions.
• Assist in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly statement of cash flows for both external and internal reporting purposes.
• Assist in the review of accounting related matters to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Assist with special ad-hoc projects, including process improvement projects that involve automation of certain routine aspects of the external reporting function.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field
• Experience working in SEC/internal financial reporting departments, or public accounting firm experience (mix is preferred)
• CPA is a plus
• Technical Competencies: Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and US GAAP; Above average computer skills and information systems proficiency. Excellent Excel skills are required to include Pivot tables, vlookups, formulas and functions
• Skills and Ability: Ability to meet high deadline demands with accurate and timely information.  Ability to establish and strengthen relationships across organizational boundaries.  Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.  Must be highly detail oriented, highly accurate, and a strong communicator.
• Information Systems: Oracle experience preferred, or other ERP software systems.

Special Certifications: CPA and/or MBA preferred

Language Skills: English
