Oglethorpe University, Atlanta’s leading private Liberal Arts University, is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic professional to serve as a Part-Time Stipend Men’s XC/Distance Coach. The Distance Coach is accountable for assisting the head coach in all aspects of managing a competitive distance program, which competes in the Southern Athletic Association. Primary duties include attending training sessions, split taking, attending and driving to meets and recruiting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Part-Time Stipend Coaches’ responsibilities include but are not limited to knowing and abiding by all University, NCAA, and Southern Athletic Association rules and regulations; coaching; assisting with practice plans; and other duties as assigned by the head coach. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have previous competitive experience as a distance athlete. The successful candidate must also provide positive leadership in all aspects of the XC and Track and Field program and must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all internal and external patrons. Other job duties and responsibilities are to be determined by the Head Coach.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and previous competitive experience at the collegiate level are preferred. A valid driver's license is required.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Successful candidates should also be knowledgeable of and committed to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Title IX, and the SAA. The position will require the ability to demonstrate appropriate technical skills during practice; the ability to plan, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while working on multiple tasks, ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Some travel is required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This position requires work in a normal office environment as well as on a track, typically running, bending, crouching, and stooping.; use of tools requiring high dexterity is required, as well as the occasional lifting of up to 50lbs; use of office equipment, training equipment, and alternative work schedule is also required.
