Job Description Summary: This position identifies, collects, codes, and validates required data collection points for all patients admitted with a trauma injury. The American College of Surgeons identifies that a Trauma Registry is fundamental to the development, implementation and evaluation of a Trauma Program and is a required position for a Level I or Level II Trauma Center. The State of Ohio Trauma System requires submission of trauma registry data from each verified Trauma Center to the State of Ohio Trauma Registry Data Bank. This position fulfills the National and State requirements for data collection, maintenance and submission. Minimum Qualifications: High School or GED (Required)CSTR - Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries - Registrar Certifying Board of the American Trauma SocietyField of study in information technology or Certification licensure as an RN, LPN or EMT P or equivalent Experience in health care preferred with in anatomy, medical terminology and database management. Required Certification in certified state trauma registrar (CSTR) within 1 year after achieving necessary 4000 hours in trauma data registry Experience to be eligible to take the examination. strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Ability to multitask and analyze wide range of data sources. strong communication skills. Basic understanding and Experience with computer software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. Ability to type 5 0 70 words per minute. Injury scoring and ICD 9 coding Experience . 2 3 yrs.
