Job Description
The Visitor Services Manager is responsible for customer service, ticket sales, including coordinating group, school field trip, and education and public program reservations, and membership sales and member relations at the Sam Noble Museum. This person supervises a staff of students, a 1.0 FTE Scheduler, and a .6 FTE Cashier. They are responsible for cash controls and the point-of-sale system at the front desk registers. They ensure all customers receive positive and professional service. Exemplary customer service is required as well as working cooperatively with others to plan the staffing of museum events and to ensure that customer needs are being met. The candidate will receive supervision from the Interim Director and will supervise student and non-student employees.
Job Requirements
Required Education: GED/High School Grad or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND 12- 24 months working in a customer service-related field
Skills:
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills such word processing, email and spreadsheet data entry.
- Excellent customer service.
- Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in preparation and management of operational budgets.
- Attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.
- Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives.
- Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively.
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing situations; must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Familiarity with digital resources, including website content management.
Certifications:
- Class D drivers license
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift 50 lb. Be able to stand for 8 hours a day. Be able to use a computer keyboard and touch screen from a standing position.
Departmental Preferences:
- Prefer 2 years experience managing staff in a customer service environment.
- Experience with information systems such as point-of-sales systems, Altru.
- Experience with museums, cultural organizations, or other non-profits.
Supervision: 1-5 Staff
