International Recruitment Specialist

Provide necessary support services for prospective and admitted international sponsored students. Maintain working relationships and communication with sponsoring agencies, embassies, college-based academic counselors, companies, and individuals.

Recruit, serve, promote, and represent the University by being a point of contact for prospective international sponsored students. Discuss policies/procedures required for admission and transfer credit procedures. Proactively anticipate student needs and respond appropriately.

Responsible for developing and implementing the international recruitment strategies, in conjunction with the Associate Director of Recruitment and Director of Admissions. This position requires international and domestic travel with the goal of recruiting international students as well as domestic students on occasion.

Discuss policies/procedures required for admission, housing, scholarships/financial aid with prospective international students, families, high school counselors and recruitment agencies. Proactively anticipate student needs and respond appropriately.

Conduct trend analysis for an assigned territory; formulate action plans based on analysis. Work in conjunction with recruitment staff and leadership to integrate the results of analysis and planning into the University's overall enrollment plan.

Demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in prospect development, yield enhancement activities, information services and problem resolution.

Create and give presentations to large and small groups of prospective students/families, on and off-campus, about the opportunities available at OSU.

Assist with daily office operations including answering phones, responding to email, greeting and providing counsel to prospective students, families and guests to meet our customer service goals.

Limited travel (international, in-state and out-of-state). Overnight stays may be required depending on time of year.

Evening activities and weekend work is required periodically to meet deadlines for admissions operations and to meet department demands including on-campus outreach, conversion, and yield activities.

During events, weather conditions will vary.

Must be able to lift 45 lbs.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

One year work related experience. To include diplomatic communication skills, cultural sensitivity, computer proficiency, student service experience, knowledge and experience of American University system and immigration guidelines.

Valid Driver's License required

Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities, and diverse cultures. Organizational skills, attention to detail, demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. The ability to build relationships with prospective students, recruitment agencies, sponsoring embassies, and campus partners is essential for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

Experience working in higher education, in admissions, advising, or international student services. Foreign Language(s).

Cultural Sensitivity. Bilingual with preferred language in Arabic. Must be able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with a diverse international student population and partner recruitment agencies and sponsoring embassies.
