What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant HR Generalist position at Old Dominion University Research Foundation?
This position maintains the payroll and Human Resource Information System support. Typical duties include human resources and payroll data entry, filing and retrieval of documents, applicant processing, and payroll processing. This position also focuses on HR systems support, data quality, reporting, training, and process improvement initiatives to support the broader Foundation objectives and growth. This position requires excellent diplomatic communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional teamwork, skills with spreadsheets, and the ability to analyze and prioritize effectively. This position works closely with entire HR Team, leadership within the department as well as cross-collaboratively with other key partner areas across the organization.
Job Responsibilities:Work Tasks and/or Duties
- HRIS data entry and maintenance of HRIS system records
- Record data for each employee, including such information as addresses, weekly earnings, absences, supervisory reports on performance, and dates of and reasons for terminations.
- Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Conduct post payroll processing including create and maintain individual manual HR and PY files; maintain active Payroll Authorization notebook; inactivate and file expired payroll authorizations.
- Assist with the continuous development and systems improvements, including process development, documentation, and operationalizing projects and initiatives as set forth by the higher-level plan.
- Implementing and monitoring ticketing/tracking system within the department; provide metrics and reporting regularly.
- Build and development knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resources management. Learn to identify trends that could impact organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Gain understanding and be able to reference appropriate laws and policies
- Assist with maintaining and communicating HR policies and employee handbook information.

Salary : $35,800 - $45,300
