Olive Crest is a national leader in the Prevention, Treatment and Education of child abuse. We have been serving children and their families throughout Southern California, Washington and Nevada for over 50 years. We currently have the following position open working out of our Palm Desert office:
SUMMARY OF WORK PERFORMED: Responsible for soliciting, collecting, recording, maintaining inventory of, and distributing in-kind donations. Also responsible for overseeing and building relationships with Olive Crest’s volunteer and community outreach program. This includes volunteer management/mobilization, managing tracking systems, building,and soliciting community support to fulfill program needs that strengthen our children and families. Work in collaboration with regional Event Coordinator and Fund Development personnel to maximize community relationships.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Building an ever-increasing network for in-kind donation support to the organization.
- Keeping communication with community partners for acquisition of in-kind donations to the organization whether through pick-ups or drop-offs.
- Representing Olive Crest at external events and building relationships in the community whether with volunteers or community partners.
- Participating in the Olive Crest “Resource Committee” consisting of representatives from each program to gather needs and keeping consistent communication.
- Connecting volunteers with options to give through in-kind and cash donations with an emphasis on converting volunteers to monthly Kids at Heart donors.
- Coordinating and leading consistent drives for our programs that involve community partners. Assume lead for back to school drive, Be the Miracle, Thanksgiving food drive and any other annual events.
- Completing donation paperwork for donors. Send proper copies to accounting.
- Finding creative ways to thank community partners for their time and donations.
- Maintaining and monitoring donation storage areas to ensure accurate inventory, organization, and cleanliness.
- Maintaining regular communication with development and program teams to review and assess donation needs.
- Responding to inquiries, phone calls, and e-mails in timely and responsive manner; ie. less than 48 business hours.
- Participating in staff meetings, including All Staff meetings, CE Team Meetings, Angel and Ambassador meetings, and other development or program team meetings as assigned.
- Responsible for all volunteer and mentor activities.
- Responsible for recruitment, intake, orientation, support, recognition, and deployment of volunteers.
- Serve as head of Angels and Ambassadors group in respective office. Leads consistent meetings.
- Responsible for 10% year over year growth in volunteer involvement.
- Responsible for assisting Program Directors in the planning and execution of client/program events.
- Maintaining weekly accurate records, files and resource materials for volunteers, mentors, interns, and program events through appropriate software utilized.
- Connecting volunteers with options to give through in-kind and cash donations with an emphasis on converting volunteers to monthly Kids at Heart donors.
- Complete any community involvement reports and updates as needed for meetings, etc.
- Receive visitors for the purpose of learning about Olive Crest.
- Operate as back up Coordinator to the Riverside Office.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and computer skills.
- Energetic, friendly, team work approach and strong with follow-through. Superior one-on-one interpersonal skills.
- Can work independently and can problem-solve.
- Must be able to demonstrate professional interaction with individuals at all levels.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess good training and delegation skills in working with volunteers.
- Must be flexible and exhibit flexibility in hours needed.
- Must be able to confidently drive the company box truck and/or office van.
- Ability to perform physical work, including working in outdoor elements and lifting up to 50 lbs. unaided is required.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with clients, volunteers and donors.
- Employee must have a philosophy of support for at-risk children and families in line with the mission, vision, values, and statement of faith of Olive Crest.
- Must maintain eligibility to work under federal and/or state mental health funded programs.
- Must maintain valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record in accordance with Olive Crest’s auto insurance policy.
- Bilingual English-Spanish is strongly preferred.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience in church programs and church relations in a volunteer or paid capacity.
