Job Summary
The Chief Engineer oversees all maintenance operations and team members. The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel and requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility. The Chief Engineer ensures labor and quality standards are upheld and assists with establishing a positive work environment, delivering exceptional guest service and administering policies and procedures established by the company and the hotel brand.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs and assigns established preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, and all other areas of the hotel
- Performs repairs of minor mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building-related components
- Oversees maintenance department with efforts relating to training, scheduling, and counseling
- Coordinates and manages all maintenance projects and outside contractors including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating timelines, and resolving issues
- Provides training and coaching to direct reports
- Maintains pool areas according to company and brand standards in addition to applicable state and local codes
- Maintains external property appearance including lawn, landscaping and parking lot
- Monitors and oversees department budget including payroll and product inventories
- Ensures compliance with all required health, safety and security standards and procedures
- Monitors and oversees inventory of equipment, tools and supplies
- Maintains basic knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool and elevator operation
- Maintains operational knowledge of common power and hand tools
- Assists team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency
- Processes purchase orders and invoices for payment
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain
