Job Description

The Sales Applications Americas Representative is responsible for leveraging strong sales product and application knowledge to the Olympus microscopy sales team in the Americas. Primary focus will be in the United States but you will also support Canada and Latin America. If working with a dynamic team of sales professionals and traveling throughout the Americas sounds appealing, this job is for you! The incumbent will be part of a team that consists of proven microscope sales professionals with strong track records of success. He/she will focus on the Olympus SSG Life Science product line with specific product responsibilities that may include microscopes, CCD based imaging systems and software and confocal microscopes. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for achieving financial targets for their assigned product line.

Job Duties


  • Provide strong product and application leadership with assigned products by:
  • Providing training sessions for direct and dealer sales teams.
  • Making sales calls and conducting demonstrations with Sales Representatives for key accounts.
  • Providing technical application expertise in order to assist the end-users in understanding and utilizing the equipment.


  • Support the participation of Olympus in tenders as it relates to technical specification of the products, particularly to differentiate them from the competition.


  • Plan and execute product seminars as well as participate and facilitate training sessions.


  • Recommend plans and implement workshops in coordination with core facilities.


  • Leverage expertise to help penetrate key accounts.


  • Create sales collateral such as application papers, instructional videos and sales presentations.


  • Keep the SSG group informed of trends developments and growing applications needs in the territory.


  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with leading researchers in the territory in order to enhance the reputation of Olympus in this market. These relationships present opportunities to understand the needs of the account, address them, maximize customer service and support and sell solutions.


  • Work with the following as appropriate: OAI, OCI, and OLA sales representatives and marketing personnel dealers and independent customers in order to meet sales targets.


  • Conform to the expense budget. Report expenses weekly.


  • Work within Olympus legal guidelines.


  • Prepare and submit activity/weekly, reports and advance, itinerary reports on a timely basis.


  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • B.S. in natural, physical or optical sciences required. PhD in the life sciences preferred.


  • Microscopy imaging experience required specifically in optics fluorescence live cell applications or clinical imaging experience.


  • Travel regularly within a given territory. Significant travel - 50% or more.


  • Strong proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel.


  • Physical Requirements-
Frequently lift/carry 25 pounds
Bend/stoop/kneel 2 hours per day
Stand/sit/walk 8 hours per day
Vision requirements correctable to 20/20 vision
Operate moving vehicles


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum two years' experience in high end capital equipment sales preferred.
