OMEGA ENGINEERS, INC. is searching for Senior and Mid Level Water resources engineers to grow and help the company's statewide water resources team. This position will develop and coordinate the drainage analysis and hydraulics design in multiple offices within the Transportation and Water Resources practice. This position requires effective time management, written communication skills, analytical, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be articulate with a professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning, and organizational skills.

This person will work with junior staff and review engineering calculations, perform field observations, and prepare to develop or implement quality control reviews of 1D and 2D computer models for urban drainage analysis, floodplain mapping, watershed planning, and closed conduit and open channel design. This individual must be competent in performing water resources engineering work and demonstrate a broad knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design methods.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Production of transportation/drainage/stormwater/watershed/permitting aspects of projects.
- Stormwater modeling with programs such as ArcGIS, HY-8, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), XPSWMM (1D & 2D), InfoWorks ICM, Microstation, SUDA and GeoPak Drainage, etc.
- Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work.
- Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Performs preliminary engineering design and/or reviews the design and drafting work of junior engineers, designers, or drafters.
- Works with external clients at progress meetings and throughout the project to meet client needs, project schedules, goals, and deadlines.
- Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets, and schedules.
- Performs quality control and guidance of junior staff related to hydrologic/hydraulic models or methods.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and reports and submits them for approval.
- Conducts or oversees personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.
- Coordinates work with other engineers and professionals within and outside their discipline and with support services staff.
- May manage or assist in the management of projects.
- May perform other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.
What will you contribute?
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with 6 years of experience since BS, 4 years since MS, or 2 years since Ph.D. The typical incumbent has six to fourteen years of progressive experience with TxDOT, Flood Control Districts, and/or similar public agencies.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills. May be eligible to receive project management training.
- Background in studies, preliminary engineering, and development of detailed plans and specifications
- Background in the design of storm drain design, large-scale flood studies, and erosion and sediment controls in Texas
- Proficiency in MicroStation
- Proficiency in bridge modeling using HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) and HEC-HMS
- Experience in performing scour calculations in accordance with HEC-18.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and model results.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects
- Texas PE license or the ability to obtain one Preferred Qualification:
Experience with any of the following:
- GeoPak drainage (latest release)
- HEC software (hydrologic and hydraulic)
- ArcGIS Systems and Programs
- 2D hydraulic modeling experience (XPSWMM, and/or HEC-RAS 2D)
- Experience with the following programs is preferred but not necessary: OpenRoads, SUDA, and InfoWorks ICM. The qualified candidate shall be proficient in roadway drainage design and riverine hydraulics.
- PE license is required (Texas preferred).
- CFM and TxDOT pre-certified are preferred.
