Omega Systems is currently seeking an Information Security Engineer. The Information Security Engineer is responsible for supporting customers and employees. The Information Security Engineer will help safeguard computer networks and systems. This position will plan and carry out security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks. A strong multi-tasker with a keen eye for detail, the successful Information Security Engineer thinks one step ahead of criminals. They are well-organized and thrive in fast-paced, high-stress scenarios. This position is being hired as a hybrid role from our HQ office in Reading, PA, or as a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Install and use software like firewalls and data encryption programs to protect organizations’ sensitive information.
- Assist computer users with installing or processing new security products and procedures.
- Conduct periodic scans of networks to find any vulnerabilities. Also conduct penetration testing, in which they simulate an attack on the system to highlight or find any weaknesses that a malicious party might exploit.
- Constantly monitor networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions.
- Install software that helps to notify of intrusions and watch for irregular system behavior.
- If a breach occurs, lead incident response activities to minimize the impact. Afterward, lead a technical and forensic investigation into how the breach happened and the extent of the damage.
- Prepares reports of breaches and their findings to management.
- Awareness training of the workforce on information security standards, policies, and best practices
- Design infrastructure to alert the technical team of detected vulnerabilities.
- Work with the technical team to recover data after a security breach.
- Keep current with the latest news and events surrounding cyber threats and security.
- Analyze the latest security policies and apply experience to protect the network.
Qualifications
- Prior MSP experience is strongly preferred
- 3 years of information technology experience supporting inbound customer requests or issue resolution
- High school Diploma
- Direct experience with anti-virus software, intrusion detection, firewalls, and content filtering
- Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods
- Experience designing secure networks, systems, and application architectures
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies, and methods
- Experience planning, researching, and developing security policies, standards, and procedures
- Professional experience in a system administration role supporting multiple platforms and applications
- Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management
- Ability to read and use the results of mobile code, malicious code, and anti-virus software
- Strong understanding of endpoint security solutions, including File Integrity Monitoring and Data Loss Prevention
- Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills, able to absorb and relate to new technical concepts quickly and build on knowledge learned
- Ability to maintain composure, tact, and effectiveness under stressful conditions
- Ability to organize information, efficiently manage time, and balance multiple priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly an ability to relay technical concepts to a business audience
