Job Summary:
Fiber Technician
Full Time position for a long-term project in facility in Austin, TX
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
· Installation of telecommunications cables, including Cat6, fiber optic and low voltage communication cables
· Installation of Telecom devices such as PAGA speakers/beacons, CCTV cameras, desktop radios and antennas
· Terminate, splice, and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
· Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including fusion splicers, power meter and OTDR (Fluke Networks)
· Proficient in using network cable analyzer tools (e.g. Fluke DSX)
· Ability to read, understand and update engineering details
· Perform construction activities, including, pulling new cable/fiber through conduits and installing lightweight instrument tray
Education, Skills and Experience:
· Minimum of three (03) years’ experience in a construction environment
· Minimum of two (02) years’ experience in Oil and Gas industry or Industrial setting
· Relevant certificates (e.g. CFOT considered an asset)
· OSHA 10
Physical Requirements:
· Walking 2-4 miles over the course of a day
· Bending, standing for long periods, climbing stairs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 50 per week
