Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee and streamline insurance verification and surgical authorization process
Train, schedule, assign, and review the Surgical Verification team’s work.
Develops and implements record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures related to Surgical Verification and Authorization activities.
Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies and suggests appropriate corrective procedures.
Communicates and coordinates policies, practices and procedures with department and company managers, officials, clients, customers, and the public.
Work closely with Ambulatory Surgical Centers and the OOMC Surgical Scheduling team to ensure at patient’s benefits and financial responsibility are accurately and clearly indicated.
Trains appropriate personnel on computerized billing system.
Responds to patient balance and authorization questions.
Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial insurance plans benefit policies
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees on the Surgical Verification Team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
