About the position:
As the Director of Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our construction projects from inception to completion. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting directly to the VP of Construction and COO, you will lead a team of construction managers, project managers, and other professionals to achieve project goals and objectives. Our construction sites are all over Northern Ohio and we're about to start building in Pennsylvania and Michigan.
What you will do:
- Develop and implement strategic plans for construction projects in alignment with company objectives.
- Identify opportunities for growth and improvement in construction processes and procedures.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction projects.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Provide leadership and direction to the construction team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Establish and enforce quality standards for construction projects.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary to address quality issues.
- Select and manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and pricing.
- Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations on construction sites.
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and accidents.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness among team members and subcontractors.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and other project stakeholders.
- Communicate project updates, milestones, and issues effectively and proactively.
- You will be expected to travel as part of this role. Our construction crews are traveling 2-5 days a week. For overnights, we take care of the hotel and we pay per diem.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of construction management experience
- Telecommunications industry experience is required.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering construction projects on time and within budget.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
