Product Manager

Overview

Three Dog Bakery, a client of OMNI Human Resource Management, is the Original Bakery for Dogs and a pioneer in the premium dog treat industry. Since 1989, they have been manufacturing and distributing delicious dog treats to Food/Drug/Mass and Pet Specialty retailers in the US and Internationally.

The Product Manager is charged with the management of the Three Dog Bakery treat portfolio as well as development and implementation of new product initiatives for the Three Dog Bakery treat brand. This is a hands-on “strategic doer” role to manage and prioritize new product opportunities, to enhance the positioning of the current product line and to commercialize new products including providing support for their launch. Daily work consists of a variety of activities including product reviews and analysis, claims development, cross-functional communication, product commercialization and direct relationships with co-manufacturers to bring products to market.

Responsibilities

• Review current portfolio and propose ways to enhance positioning and claims in line with brand promise.
• Identify trends, consumer needs and ideas for products to be sold in Food/Drug/Mass/Independent Pet as well as in Three Dog Bakery bakeries.
• Research and monitor existing consumer base and industry developments to identify new product opportunities.
• Go through the steps required to determine operational feasibility with co-manufacturers, cost parameters, design, and product and packaging development.
• Perform current product assessments and make recommendations of how to improve product quality and communication to reflect brand promise and increase consumer appeal.
• Support new product launches with key retailers.
• Manage project budget and run product related financial analyses for leadership.
• Oversee product lifecycles, pricing principles, sku portfolio and rationalization, as well as state product registration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field is required. Food science knowledge is a plus.
• 5-7 years of demonstrated success in product management and innovation with a small entrepreneurial organization.
• Experience with dual CPG /boutique brand innovation a plus; pet industry experience a plus but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated success in bringing a product to market from idea to launch.
• Understanding of different consumer research techniques.
• Proven track record of creative problem solving, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset, leading in ambiguous environments, and learning agility.
• Must be passionate about dogs and understand the dog-dog parent relationship dynamic.
