What are we looking for? Represents OMNOVA as an authorized agent and primary contact in transactions involving the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services from external vendors for plant site operations. Your tasks and responsibilities… Development, negotiation, and administration of Purchase Orders and Requests for Proposals in compliance with legal, technical, and corporate requirements. Monitor, maintain, and analyze SAP procurement data to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the information. Ensure adherence to all OMNOVA policies related to goods and service purchases from outside vendors. Work closely with OMNOVA corporate sourcing & logistics staff to understand current sourcing plans, approved vendors, contract terms and conditions, and specific local versus corporate commercial responsibilities. Assurance of competitive cost, quality, and appropriate service levels for assigned procurement responsibility for goods & services. Negotiation of pricing/contracts for specific raw materials that are not covered by the corporate sourcing department. Procurement and inventory control of raw materials. Primary point of contact on vendor relations necessary to supply the plant effectively and efficiently. Work closely with plant production staff to manage requirements and ensure uninterrupted plant operation. Develop and maintain a purchasing price update report system to supply timely information to users and management. Understand vendor capabilities, explore opportunities for alternative sources, and make recommendations to reduce cost, optimize inventory and increase cash flow. Work closely with Production, R&D, Technical Engineering, SH&E, Marketing and Sales personnel to resolve problems with supply, suppliers, and transportation providers. Coordinate inbound transportation with Logistics group to assist in assuring continuous supply at optimum cost. Supports supplier audits and quality meetings with suppliers Collects, analyzes, and summarizes supply management performance metrics against objectives including quality, cost, on-time delivery, and lead-time. Communicates results and works with suppliers to drive continuous improvement. Who you are… Required Qualifications: Bachelors in Business, Supply Chain, Economics or related field At least three years of experience in full time supply chain/purchasing Analytical skills: Buyer will be working with multiple vendors to determine best options and will need to evaluate pros and cons of each based on price, quality, speed of delivery and economic factors Knowledge and experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP) and Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel Knowledge of the chemicals industry or related industrial manufacturing environment Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills (written and verbal) Freedom to travel as required to OMNOVA HQ, suppliers, other OMNOVA sites, etc. Excellent skills in: problem solving, facilitation, troubleshooting, negotiation, multi-tasking, project management. Must be a strong leader and advocate for safety, driving a safety culture in a positive manner Must be watchful and highly vigilant, maintaining high ethical standards. Have the ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate effective listening skills Attention to detail will be critical to making sure all issues are addressed effectively Knowledge of DOT/Hazmat requirements Knowledge of Chemical logistics via Rail, ISO, and Tanker Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience utilizing SAP WORKING REQUIREMENTS: Position is primarily day shift, Monday – Friday Occasional evening and weekend work is expected in support of a 24 hour operation PTO is scheduled in consideration of site activities PHYSICAL FACTORS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Frequently remains in a stationary position 70% of the time Occasionally moves about the sit to perform job functions Frequently operates a computer or other sit specific machinery TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 10% DISCLAIMER: The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
