What You Will Do
Perform work related to customer service field operations
Turn gas service on and off. Install and remove gas meters, regulators, and related equipment.
Respond to Natural Gas related emergencies.
Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and repair leak survey tools and equipment.
Maintain company vehicle. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including:
- Crescent and pipe wrenches
- Pliers and screwdrivers
- Meters and regulators
- Combustible gas indicators
- Ladders
- Carbon Monoxide Detectors
- Valve Change Tools
- Power tools
- Probe Bar
Examine and light gas-fired equipment.
Investigate customer related orders and emergency situations including:
- High bills
- Carbon monoxide/fumes
- Pressure problems
- Possible leaks
- Fires
- Explosions
- Asphyxiations
- Natural disasters
Complete and update reports including:
- Gas leaks and work logs
- Equipment maintenance reports
- Mileage reports
- Time sheets
Maintain records including:
- Orders completed
- Driven miles
- Customer information
- Leak record information and maintenance work orders
- Meter inventory
- Leak classifications
- Yard line replacements
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
H.S. Diploma
Applicable driver's license required.
Experience in use, function, and maintenance of tools applicable to position.
Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).
Working knowledge and training relative to:
- Use electronic communications (cell phones, two-way radios)
- Basic communication skills
- Use of a computer and basic computer software
- Reading maps, house numbers, dials, gauges, and instruction manuals
Read and write fluently in English.
Lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 15-20 times a day; up to 40 pounds 10-15 times a day; over 50 pounds 2-3 times a week.
Climb ladders; stoop, kneel, and crawl on floors on ground
React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner
Communicate and exchange information or instructions
Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
Travel over uneven terrain including: mud, gravel, sand, rocks, ice, and snow
Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.
Be part of an on call rotation of team members available to respond to emergencies 24/7 including nights, weekends and holidays.
Willingness to work nights shifts.
Willingness to work overtime.
