Job Description:
One Health Medical Centers is an organization with over 9 years serving the community in South Florida. The organization owns and operates 6 centers providing multi-specialty medical services throughout Miami – Dade County. At One Health Medial Center we are looking for an ethical, honest and hard worker medical coder. Our medical coder main responsibility will be to organize, code, bill and file patient medical records. You will be responsible for translating medical services such as diagnoses and other medical procedures into acceptable medical billing codes.
Responsibilities:
· Adhere to Marketing Research Association Codes (MRA) that promote an ethical culture where principles of honesty, professionalism, fairness and confidentially
· Extract relevant information from patients records
· Comply with all legal requirement regarding coding policies, ethics and practices
· Pre-Audit – Prepare notes day before patients are seen
· Capture Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) codes implemented by CMS
· Review medical records to make sure they are accurate and complete and in support of patient risk adjustment score accuracy.
· Oversee medical records and correct incomplete/ incorrect codes for all conditions
· Review medication list to verify if there is a correlating condition or if an active condition is being treated with medication.
· Assign and sequence all codes for services rendered
· Review all specialist and hospital consults, labs, radiology and pathology for proper coding
· Collaborate with billing department to ensure all bills are send in timely matter
· Provide coding and guideline education to all codes and providers focusing on revenue enhancement opportunities
· Communicate with Insurance companies about coding errors and / or disputes
· Communicate with immediate supervisor with any issues related to equipment and computer program.
· Ability to pay attention to detail
· Familiarity with ECW - a plus
· Good analytical skills
· Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
· Complete other clerical duties as assigned
Requirements
· Accredited by The American Academy of Professional Codes (AAPC) – a must
· Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and DRG codes a must
· English, Spanish and/or Creole - as needed depending on location
· Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook – ( Preferred )
· Adhere to company policy and procedures
· Background and drug testing – Mandatory
· Overtime – if required
· Able to cross cover on other clinic locations – as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
