Job Description
PURPOSE:
To perform the functions associated with the washing of dishes and other variable assigned tasks in conjunction with kitchen duties.
HOURS:
Works 40 hours per week. Hours will vary when brunches and special events are served.
DAYS: Sunday - Wednesday 1pm-9pm / Thursday- Cleaning Day Hours Vary
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Desire a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Must be patient and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
3. Must enjoy working with senior adults who have varying levels of health, abilities, and limitations.
4. Must be able to communicate clearly.
5. Must be flexible and willing to work independently and with other staff members in the Food Service department.
6. Must be able to work as a team member, willing to learn and accept supervisions and consultation.
7. Must be able to lift, bend, walk, walk up and down stairs.
DIRECT SUPERVISOR:
Kitchen Manager
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Follows facility and departmental policies and procedures.
Attends facility staff meetings and participates in safety and fire drills.
B. Ensures accurate completion of time card for each pay period.
C. Respects resident rights and dignity.
Respects fellow employee rights and dignity.
D. Cleans all dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.
E. Ensures all trash cans are ready for use at appropriate times.
F. Cleans /sanitizes dishwashing area; includes washing machine, tables and floor.
G. Removes all trash/boxes to dumpster.
H. Sweeps kitchen floor completely, ensuring no debris remaining.
I. Mops entire kitchen floor with disinfectant, including all hare-to-reach areas under equipment and in corners, moving racks, etc., as necessary.
J. Performs other assignments as given by supervisor.
COGNITIVE AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
SPEAKING ENGLISH LANGUAGE-Necessary to communicate with residents and other staff.
HEARING-Necessary for taking instructions and responding to requests from residents.
SIGHT-Necessary for safe operation of equipment and for carrying out other tasks.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:
LIFT AND CARRY UP TO 10 POUNDS-Frequently required to lift supplies, trays, racks, trashcans.
CARRY 11 TO 30 POUNDS- Frequently when carrying racks, trash cans, boxes, supplies.
CARRY 31TO 100 POUNDS -Frequently required when emptying trash cans.
REACH ABOVE SHOULDERS HEIGHT-Frequently when lifting supplies from shelves, lifting racks, etc.
PUSH/PULL-Frequently when using kitchen carts, using dishwashing machine.
HAND MANIPULATION:
GRASPING-Frequently while working with kitchen utensils, dishwashing machine, dinnerware, mopping, sweeping, etc.
HANDLING-Frequently while working with dinnerware, racks, equipment.
FINGERING-Frequently while working with dinnerware and kitchen utensils.
OTHER PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
TWISTING-Occasionally while sweeping, emptying trash cans, washing dishes.
BENDING-Occasionally when picking up trash.
CRAWLING-Rarely required.
SQUATTING-Rarely required.
CLIMBING-Rarely required.
BALANCING-Rarely required.
WORK SURFACE: Tile, cement.
EXPOSURE TO BLOOD AND/OR BODY FLUIDS: It has been determined that this position does not require duties that would normally result in likely exposure to blood or body fluids.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Good working conditions with occasional exposure to infectious diseases. Occasional exposure to uncooperative or dissatisfied residents using abusive language.
