Med Surg RN. Would prefer that the candidate have PEDS experience as well.
General Duties:
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse in this role will be expected to fulfill the following skills, including but not limited to: provide competent, safe care for medical patients, such as diabetes and digestive disorders, hematology and acute disease processed in some cancer patients, renal, pre and post operative surgical patient care needs, other disorders of the muscular/skeletal system, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation and treatment, acute patient assessment and response, respiratory and cardiac disease processes, and teaching across multiple disease processes. The nurse assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The nurse receives assistance from the full scope of nursing expertise. The nurse must have knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal/infant, pediatric and adolescent to geriatric patients. Some clinical skills expected but not limited to are: diagnosis and age-related assessment, medication administration, IV insertion and maintenance, wound and dressing care.
Equipment Used:
EPIC, Pyxis, Ceiling mounted pt lift system 100% of rooms, Hospira Infusion and PCA Pumps, Medfusion syringe pumps, HillRom beds,
Required Skills:
2 years of nursing experience with skill set to match above description of nursing care provided. Additional experience in the care of pediatric patients is desired but not required as patient assignment can be adjusted around the pediatric population. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Licensures and Certifications:
BLS, ACLS. SD state RN license
Shift Requirements:
12 hour rotating day/night shift 7 days per week

1 hour unit specific orientation/facility tour with director or delegate and 2, 12 hr rotating shifts with a staff member on the unit.
