Summary Description or Position Objective:
The Associate, Engineering participates in and leads utility-scale photovoltaic power plant designs. The position is part of a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team requiring excellent entry level engineering knowledge, AutoCAD drafting skills, and experience/coordination with land development. The position collaborates closely with our Engineering and Development teams on a diverse selection of solar projects. Our Associate, Engineering has advanced AutoCAD skills and brings technical skills and efficiency to our dynamic team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Downloading and compiling GIS layers into an AutoCAD base map.
- Interpreting USGS maps, FEMA maps, NRCS soil survey, National wetlands inventory, ALTA surveys, maps, and other information to identify site constraints and feasibility for solar.
- Applying GIS experience working with ESRI or AutoCAD products to incorporate geolocation into scaled layout drawings.
- Utilizing GIS or AutoCAD Civil 3D to analyze terrain and identify suitable slopes.
- Formatting drawing plots and maintain AutoCAD template files and standards for company.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to create, and optimize, preliminary layout design of PV systems.
- Generating shape files and KMZ files.
- Working closely with project development teams to modify plans as site constraints evolve during project development.
- Designing and drafting electrical single line diagrams, including conductor sizing and overcurrent protection sizing.
- Preparing civil, mechanical or electrical details as required with support from engineering.
- Preparing Pvsyst energy production reports consistent with design assumptions
- Participating in interconnection study review and incorporate utility feedback to project design
- Working with senior engineers to practice coordinating directly with outside civil, electrical, and geotechnical engineering consultants.
- Developing a specialty knowledge or skill set to complement the existing team’s capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience designing and drafting in AutoCAD with experience utilizing layers, blocks, coordinate systems, dimensioning and industry standards.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D a plus.
- Experience with Google Earth or other mapping/GIS tools, as well as use of online and public resources such as federal/state/county databases (e.g., to review land records and environmental factors that may affect project development) a plus.
- A recent history of successfully building trust and respect in a symbiotic relationship.
- Must possess strong quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of integrity and organizational capacity to manage multiple projects.
- Strong track record of successful collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office/365 is a ‘must’, project management, and CRM software such as Salesforce a plus.

OneEnergy’s compensation packages are dependent on an array of factors including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other organizational needs. A reasonable estimated salary for this position is between $70,000 and $90,000, depending on experience and education.
