Oneida Health is an independent 101-bed acute care community hospital and a 160-bed extended-care facility (ECF) and short-term rehab facility licensed by the State of New York and operated by Oneida Health Systems, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation. The hospital is Joint Commission accredited.

Job Summary

This is responsible work involving stocking a variety of pharmacy supply items of considerable value, assisting the Pharmacist in filling orders and performing minor clerical duties. Work is performed under direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director; does related work as required.

Job Duties

  • Fills supply orders under direction of the Pharmacist from pharmacy stores for various sections of the hospital
  • Unpacks and stores pharmacy supplies, verifies items received and stores perishables such as antibiotics in refrigerators
  • Checks invoices against delivered orders to insure that correct items are received, charges are correct and that there is no breakage
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and pharmacy equipment and prepares orders for new supplies at Pharmacist’s request
  • Maintains a variety of simple control records for supplies received and issued and makes reports as required
  • Computes cost of individual items or units from bulk supplies
  • Types labels for medications issued by the hospital pharmacy and records transactions in the pharmacy log
  • Performs miscellaneous duties in the pharmacy such as keeping the work area clean and orderly, cleaning equipment and running errands
  • May be required to dispose of unused or outdated drugs and other pharmacy supplies at the direction of the Pharmacy Director.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of methods and practices used in receiving, storing, maintaining' and issuing supplies and equipment
  • Working knowledge of inventory records keeping
  • Ability to write legibly, keep simple records, and make simple arithmetical computations
  • Clerical aptitude
  • Ability to get along well with others
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • Graduation from high school, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • NY Pharmacy Technician certification.'
