What is Job Corps? It is the country's most extensive nationwide residential career training program and has been operating for over 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.
Oneonta Job Corps offers training in the medical trades (Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, and Medical Administrative Assistant), Automobile trades (Auto Body and Auto Technician), Construction Trades (Tile Setting, Cement Mason, and Electrical), and our advanced trades (Overhead Line, Rural Underground Distribution, SMART Meter, and our Drone Program).
Position Available: Work Base Learning Coordinator
We are seeking a full-time Work Base Learning Coordinator who is reliable, compassionate, has a great work ethic, and also loves to work with youth! Be the mentor who helps students strive for academic excellence by empowering them to do their best, overcome challenges and work to develop the skills to become lifelong learners.
In this position, you will create the link between our students, local employers, and our Career Services team to ensure the successful delivery of work-based learning opportunities through work experience. You will participate in employer-sponsored community activities, and plan and coordinate activities to bring together employers, educators, students, and center staff to ensure the success of the Work Based Learning program.
We are looking for an individual who is well organized with great attention to detail and possesses strong oral and written communication skills. In this position, a successful person will have a working knowledge of local job markets, area employers, and community agencies as well as the work ethics students need to be successful. The ability to work as a team member and the ability to be self-motivated is essential for success. The position requires proficiency in the use of computers and common computer software (Microsoft Office and other career options and job search applications).
Bachelor’s Degree in a work-related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a New York State Valid Driving License with an acceptable driving record. Compensation is based on experience.
