What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fragrance Evaluator position at OnScent?
As an OnScent Fragrance Evaluator, you play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating the performance, quality, and overall appeal of fragrances. You will conduct sensory evaluations, organize consumer tests, and provide valuable feedback to Perfumers and product development teams. This position requires a strong sense of smell, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and interpret sensory data. This position can be located in Middlesex or Norwood NJ with planned location to our new Creative Center in Bergen County.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct sensory evaluations of fragrances using trained olfactory senses.
- Assess fragrance performance, including longevity, diffusion, and development over time.
- Organize and coordinate consumer tests to gather feedback on fragrance perception and preferences.
- Document and analyze sensory data, providing clear and concise reports and recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with perfumers, marketing teams, and product developers to understand project objectives and target audience.
- Participate in fragrance development meetings and provide input on fragrance modifications or improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market research, and consumer insights related to fragrance preferences.
- Work closely with quality control teams to ensure consistency and adherence to fragrance standards.
- Maintain an organized fragrance library, including accurate labeling, storage, and tracking of samples.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of fragrance databases and evaluation protocols.
- Contribute to the development of sensory evaluation guidelines and best practices.
- Provide support in fragrance presentations, marketing materials, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with perfumers and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with industry regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, sensory science, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-10 years experience in fragrance evaluation, sensory analysis, is required.
- Exceptional sense of smell and the ability to discern and describe complex fragrance characteristics.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in evaluating sensory data.
- Knowledge of fragrance families, olfactory composition, and fragrance evaluation techniques.
- Familiarity with market research methodologies and consumer testing protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear and constructive feedback to perfumers and development teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- Passion for fragrances and an understanding of their role in various consumer products.
