What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Sitter position at Onsight Healthcare?
As a patient sitter and under the supervision of the nursing staff, you will provide personal care services and continuous observation of patients in need of constant supervision. In collaboration with the hospital staff, the patient sitter ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. - Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY
Hours of Operations:
- Monday through Sunday (Shifts vary)
- 3:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M.
Position Overview
- Provide direct observation of patients as directed by the nursing plan of care and under the supervision of the nursing staff and nursing supervisor
- Assist nursing staff in creating, maintaining, and providing a safe environment
- Immediately report all changes in the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members
- Follow all required policies to avoid the transmission of illness by correctly wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks and gloves
- Alert nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction
- Adhere to confidentiality and patients' rights policy as outlined in the healthcare facility's HIPAA policies and procedures
- Work independently and as part of the team
- Attend required healthcare facility training and orientation programs
- Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Must meet healthcare facility's pre-assignment and medical requirements
- Ability to effectively build relationships with patients, guests, and team members
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Ability to work in a stationary position for hours at a time in an outdoor environment
