As a Tool & Die Machine apprentice, you will:
- Get Paid while you learn - produce high-quality work while you learn skills.
- Attend In-Person Training – We pay for your education at an NTMA approved training program.
- Be Mentored - our apprentices will receive support from a skilled machinist and enhance critical hands-on learning.
- Receive Credentials – After completion of the 4-year apprentice program, you will receive your journeyman credentials.
- Operate and run lathes, mills, or grinders.
- Attend all in-person classes and pass the required tests.
- Read blueprints.
- Check shape dimensions and tolerances using micrometers.
- Monitor the tool to ensure it meets final size requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the machine and surrounding area.
- Must either be enrolled or willing to enroll in an NTMA sponsored training program and attend on-site training classes one – two evenings per week. This is a 4-year program.
- Ability to operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequent sitting and occasional walking, standing, and stooping.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, are required.
- Ability to monitor sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving of objects up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving of objects up to 45 pounds.
