What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cellar Hand position at Opolo Wines?
Company Description
Opolo Vineyards, located in Templeton, CA, is an esteemed winery with a history of producing award-winning wines in Paso Robles, California. With vineyards spanning nearly 300 acres across Paso Robles, Opolo benefits from a diverse range of climates and soils, allowing for a wide variety of varietals to thrive.
Shifts Available:
Morning Shift: 5am start time
- Digging tanks, fermentations,punch downs and pumpovers pressing and processing fruit
Afternoon Shift: 1pm start time
- Draining/ pressing tanks, pressing, running fermentation and tank sanitization.
Duties to include but not limited to:
· Running crush equipment
· Barrel work
· Sorting fruit
· Cap management(pumpovers/punchdowns)
· Press operations
· Juice/wine transfers
· Additions and inoculations
· Brix/temp of fermenting tanks
· Assist with draining/pressing
· Equipment sanitization/ cleaning
Other harvest related duties as required
Prior harvest experience is desired but not essential. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail driven individuals who possess an aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team. Candidates should have good communication skills, be reliable, punctual, prepared to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, day shift, night shift, and holidays. All candidates will need to be fit and capable of working long hours, lift weights up to 50lbs, and endure extended periods of time walking, standing, and climbing ladders.
