What are the responsibilities and job description for the R and D Technician position at Opportunities?
Essential Functions:
- Proficient in operating a crane to perform and complete testing validation requirements
- Strong knowledge of cranes assembly to perform proto-type and production pilot builds
- Strong understanding of performing electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Required understand various crane systems, functions, drawings and BOM structure in order document route-cause and communicate to the Engineering team member
- Requires each technician to be a team player to maximize team strengths
- Required each technician to understand the various stages of design development and related policies and protocol.
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents ad injuries.
- Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal and external).
- Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Company policies to eliminate and or reduce exposure to liability.
- Special projects or work as assigned by the Supervisor.

Experience/Training/Education:
Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Desired: Some supervisory or team leading experience. Schematics and print reading experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Basic knowledge of computer systems is needed to write reports and use Microsoft Office. High level of organization skills and strong critical thinking ability. Must be able to understand basic cranes systems such as electrical and hydraulic system. Metal fabrication and welding skill are a must and the ability to complete assignments on time and in budget. A desired skill is to understand how to use data acquisition systems for collection and interrupting testing data. Ability to organize testing data and put it into the proper formatting. Communication skills are key to being successful at this job position.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
